Camouflaged Looper, Synchlora aerata on a Grey-headed Coneflower, Ratibida pinnata. These caterpillars attach pieces of plants to their bodies to create camouflage. Oddly enough, the first time I saw this caterpillar was when a wildlife photographer who was themselves dressed head to toe in camouflage pointed it out.
