Goldenrod Bunch Gall

Some photos of Goldenrod Bunch Galls that I found last fall at Carver Park Reserve, near Victoria.  They are caused by the larva of midges in the genus Rhodpalomyia.

 

The Hilton Pond Center in York, South Carolina has an interesting piece about these galls and two other types of goldenrod galls in their "This Week at Hilton  Pond" feature (I haven't looked extensively yet, but it looks like a great website with a lot of good information)
